We made it! We've been married for seven years!! Whaat? Can I get a woot woot? Wow, and what a crazy ride it's been. Seven very insane and busy years but without a doubt the BEST seven years of my life so far. We have gone through so much together, we've learned so much in the past seven yrs and I think it's safe to say that we have definatly accomplished much more than I had anticipated. Things haven't always been easy but we made the best out of our trials, we learned from them and moved forward while applying what we learned to avoid hardships again. Marriage is quite the adventure, that's for sure! (and I mean that in a good way, mostly.)
We had Skye's mom watch the munchkins so we could go out and celebrate. Micah is a big mamma's boy so he wont let us leave him with anyone yet, we tried before and it didn't go so well, he cried the whole time we were gone. Silly boy. So, we brought him along for our little date. He was a good boy and slept the whole time, so other than carrying 20 extra pound around with us, it was as if he wasn't even there.
We love going to Tucanos on our anniversaries, not just because it is delicious but also because we went there the night that Skye asked me to marry him, so it's sort of our place. Unfortunately they were extra busy and we were told it would be a two and a half hour wait. So we decided we would try Rodizio Grill instead. it was pretty darn good. I still like Tucanos better but I cant say anything bad about Rodizio Grill, just don't try the quail eggs. (ask Skye)
We hurried back home because we were having our anniversary gift delivered, we cleaned and prepped our room that entire morning only to find out that the delivery truck broke down and that they wouldn't be able to deliver it until the following week. Oh well, that just meant we wouldn't have to move any more furniture around for the rest of the day so we packed all the boys in the car and ran out to get a movie from redbox.

We tried to watched the new Pirates of the Caribbean with the kiddos but they were pretty wild so we put the kids in bed. I took a little longer getting Micah to sleep. when he finally fell asleep, I came downstairs and Skye had hurried and set up a blanket in the family room, filled one of the kids Easter/Halloween bucket with ice, put a bottle of non-alcoholic wine in it, chilled two glasses in the freezer and somehow found a small candle. It was so sweet and thoughtful of him to do that. I was actually pretty surprised.
That "wine" was pretty good too, it's really just fancy grape juice, but it's very good! We finished watching the movie, well, Skye did, I fell asleep. I hate to admit it but I have sort of turned into my parents, it seems like lately I sleep through just about every movie. Sad, I know
Our anniversary gift this years was the biggest one we have gotten for each other so far. I'd have to say, it's about time we went out and got ourselves something nice. Anyone that has ever been in our house knows just how empty it looks, especially our bedroom. It almost always looks like we just moved in or we are getting ready to move out. There just isn't enough furniture or decorations in the house. I'm pretty sure some people might even feel sorry for us. Let's just say our priorities haven't been focused on home decor. We prefer to pay off as much debt as possible first and when we do buy things we pretty much always pay for it upfront. We just don't like debt, aka loans. I used to get very frustrated since this was mostly Skye's idea and anytime we had enough cash to go out and buy nice things for the house we ended up paying it towards our house and car loans but it has been worth the wait. Financial freedom feels great, we are almost done paying off our cars and the lot in Mapleton, plus we have paid a little over a third of our mortgage down. That just means more money for us each month and less to pay to the bank in interest. Yuk! If things continue to go well for us, this time next year we should be completely debt free except for our house mortgage. Then I can get whatever I want for the house. I think it's definitely worth the wait so I will keep being patient. Right now I am really enjoying our bedroom. It looks great! Sure it still needs a little more but I'm happy with it. I've never had a bedroom set this nice, and I love having a night stand! Oh and the wood smells so good. (I'm weird, I know)

Here are some before and after pictures.
Before |
Micah hanging out while we get our room ready for the new furniture. |
Just seconds after they delivered it. We were SO excited. |
This picture was taken right after we set it up. We do own pillows, I promise. Now we just need to get some lamps and some picture frames so it doesn't look so plain. |
I though I'd post a few more of our wedding pictures plus some of the pics we had taken just a little after Micah was born.
